Welcome Home LHSers..it takes a Village...
After Lakenheath, we moved to San Antonio in 1966 where I finished HS and went to the University of Texas and received a Bach. of Architecture.

Growing up an “Air Force brat” developed in me an “itch” to move, see new places, meet new people. An “itch” I scratched frequently in my adult life.

A year after finishing UT, I moved to Boston. There, I returned to school and received a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University.

After my move to Boston, I married my college sweetheart. We remained together for six years.

In 1980, while visiting in San Antonio, a chance encounter led me back to Texas when I was offered the opportunity to help develop a new architectural program at UTSA.

In 1985, I meet and married Julie. We have been together for 37 years and have two wonderful grown children.

By 1988, the “itch” returned. Fortunately, my wife is an adventurous soul. We moved back to Boston, but having scratched that “itch” once before, Boston wasn’t exciting anymore.

In 1989, we visited Hawaii and loved it. We moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in 1990. Both our children were born there. After 6 years, news surfaced that volcanic off-gassing on the Big Island was damaging children’s lungs, so it was time to leave.

In 1996 we visited Seattle. Amazed by the scenic beauty of Washington, we moved to Edmonds, a cute little town on Puget Sound, north of Seattle. I started my own architectural practice, we settled down, raised our children, and had a great time doing it. But, I still had the “itch.”

An opportunity arose in LA, so with the kids in college, I moved to LA for 1 1/2 years. My least favorite place ever. Fortunately, 2 years later that led to another opportunity in Taipei, Taiwan where I lived for 10 months designing an 8 story urban church.

Although I was born in Texas, growing up as a “brat,” home is where my parents lived. For many years I considered San Antonio my home. After my parent’s passing years ago, I lost my connection to it, until recently. I visited family here two years ago, and I realized how much I missed San Antonio, so I scratched that “itch” one last time and I moved back in Feb. 2022.
